3 Emphases in Life Groups during 2010

We’ve introduced three Life Group emphases to help our people follow Christ more fully. Identifying these helps us be unified in purpose and as we all seek to grow in our love for and obedience to Christ. We’ve provided ideas after each one – the ideas came from fellow Life Group leaders during our fall huddle meetings!

Loving God

Prayer - may Life Groups more than ever be a place where we help one another grow in our prayer lives - together - especially praying for God to move mightily and accomplish his purposes in our world and in our community, that he would revive each of us for his glory.

Ideas
  • Enlist a Prayer Champion
  • Pray every meeting for a select few names of lost people God has placed in our lives
  • Everyone prays pairs up for prayer and praise reports – especially so with folks you don’t know as well
  • Separate the men from women. Benefits:
    • encourages transparency
    • helps men connect
    • issues come out
    • safe place to learn
  • Requests sharing via Yahoo! Groups or regular e-mails

Loving One Another

Through Arena system - Knowing who our people are and what activities they’re involved in helps us care for them well - Having the right information about your people helps us all care for them well! Training on using the easy-to-use system is available by request.

Ideas
  • Use the Arena system’s email capabilities to send weekly emails
  • Print a roster so you can more easily recognize who is absent from a gathering
  • Other ideas for Loving One Another:
    • Social events to deepen relationships
    • Friends Day for Life Group
    • Meet the needs of group members
Raise offering funds through an activity (garage sale, for example)
    • Mow lawn for a group member in need
  • Invest individually outside of group setting

Loving Our Neighbor

Growing stronger at this together – This goes beyond uniting for community impact events. It particularly means helping each other live "love our neighbor" lifestyles all week long, every week. Becoming like Jesus to people around us. What better place to grow than in close community, in Life Groups!

Ideas
  • Make it a regular practice to share ideas of things we can do in our normal lives to:
    • touch people in need, and
    • share the gospel with people in our lives
    • pray regularly for lost people (missional prayer)
  • Set personal goals for lifestyle adjustments and outreach living style – inject accountability and encouragement
  • Each person rethinks their personal definition of “generosity” and investment in the kingdom
  • Your group participates in Adopt-a-class at Webb Elementary
